Hermann’s bar features a sunlit beer garden, cosy lounge area and a stage that hosts live bands and DJs.

Manning Bar is a purpose built live entertainment venue attracting the best local and international acts for many years.

The bar’s countless live music events have included artists such as Gotye, The Foo Fighters, Billy Bragg, Cloud Control, Thundamentals, Violent Soho, The Smith Street Band, The Kite String Tangle, sleepmakeswaves, Hoodoo Gurus, Sepultura, Radio Birdman, Ratatat, Alexisonfire, Motion City Soundtrack, Midnight Juggernauts, Dashboard Confessional, Regurgitator, Propaghandi and Wolfmother. We are also home to Astral People’s OutsideIn Festival, the inaugural OneDayOnly Festival, and the bi-monthly Rock ‘n’ Roll and Alternative Markets.

Manning Bar also hosts the infamous Sydney Uni Band Comp, which has helped launched the careers of some of Australia’s most well-known and loved bands including The Laurels (Winners 2007), The Jezabels (Finalist 2007) and Cloud Control (Winners 2006). See below for more information.

During semester Manning Bar is a popular student venue, providing food and drinks Monday to Friday and regular events every week.

Manning Bar is an independent venue owned and run by the University of Sydney Union (USU). Australia’s oldest and largest student union, USU provides student services and programs at the University of Sydney. USU is a non-profit organisation that invests all profits back into the student community to deliver the best student experience in Australia.
